To The Beach
Story Behind the Painting:
This painting was my second commission for a special little 17-months old toddler who loves animals and all things vehicles. It is titled: “To the Beach” – Everyone is excited to be heading to the beach, including the little ducks.
I had a very enjoyable time creating this painting; from finding the final perfect blue for the sea (Maldivean blue – I call it), to the perfect texture on the bridge to creating the little stories for the different characters in the painting.
My heart bursts with joy to hear that Callum kisses his painting good night every night, after demanding to go through his painting (like a book) for his bedtime reading. Nothing is more rewarding than the pure appreciation of a child.
It is such a personal and special process to create a painting for someone, especially a child.
I am always very grateful to be able to part of the unveiling, which is a full family affair – and always a nail-biting and emotional moment for me.
